It all began 36 years ago, in a small downtown Canadian bakery and has grown to serving Canada and the US.
Our History
Cuong Chau, the father of nine children, immigrated from Vietnam to start a new life and business in Canada. Established in 1987, Golden Happiness Bakery™ started out in small store in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
In 1988, a second location opened in a small building in Chinatown on 2nd Ave S.E. The variety of goods that were handmade included baked and steamed buns that were produced daily.
In 2000, a full-scale production facility was built in Calgary's Foothills Industrial Area to accommodate increased production of goods. Golden Happiness™ is still managed and ran by the family, currently by the second generation. Goods are distributed and sold across various grocery stores through Canada and United States.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy at Golden Happiness Bakery™, stems from core values which have guided the growth of the company for almost 30 years. While the company initially began as a humble bakery, it has evolved to source quality products that are easy to prepare.
Crafted to compliment diverse occasions, our products aim to bring family and friends together. Our catalogue features traditional and contemporary products and is evidence of recipes growing to reflect our diverse consumers.

Our products are sourced from responsible and reputable vendors to ensure the highest quality. We believe in using high quality ingredients, since it is the first step in producing high quality products. Our ingredients are sourced responsibly, ensuring that we are always conscious of our environmental footprint.
Food Safety
Food safety and quality is Golden Happiness Bakery’s top priority. Food Safety and HACCP Program has been in place in our facility since 2017. All employees have been trained and educated to follow the protocols for ensuring the bakery products manufactured from our facility meet the regulatory requirements as well as our company’s food safety and high-quality product standard.
